The challenge was to write a song in 1 hour. It’s about his AFL Football hero, Cyril Rioli.

Slot it through the sticks, then a duck and a weave,
When he gets on the field it’s candy galore,
Maybe a ‘don’t argue’, or a jump on Heath Shaw
The man who evades like it’s a rolie polie,
And the name of this imortal well it’s Cyril Rioli

I’ll fly to Sydney and I’ll fly to Perth
No matter where you go you’ll get your money’s worth
Yea, watch him leap and watch him fly
Watch him soar before your very eyes,

But some day’s good and some day’s bad
But no matter what the outcome, I’m still glad
Because he weaves, because he soars
Open up the pack like we open doors
Now settle in and grab a snack
A weeks gone by and Cyril’s back

Cyril retires our stomachs hurl
A plume of heartbreak across the world
All is lost, the days back then

But I know that Cyril isn’t done
And that his legacy will still go on
Although he’s gone and it’s not the same
He brought smiles to kids and inspired the game
